As a general rule of thumb, in Manga art, females are drawn one “head” shorter than males. For the uninitiated, “head” refers to a length of measurement when drawing figures. Typically, guys are 7-8 heads tall, which means in proportion, their head is 1/8th the height of their entire body. In American comics, this is slightly different, males are usually 8-9 heads tall, not much difference, but superheroes are usually 10-12 heads tall, massive, with the exception of people like Spiderman, who isn’t really fantastic anyway. C’mon, he’s a man with spider webs, not as cool as Batman, not as buff as Superman. But this also means that the females are relatively a lot shorter than males. Perhaps being height equivalent to a man’s chest level.
The main point comes in, did you know that most successful relationships, the female and male follow this proportion? (i.e. the male is one head taller than the female) This point is what I’d like to believe is equilibrium in people. As such, in this case, when the proportion is right, there wouldn’t be much of further examination, you’d pass just from physical quality alone, which by the way, is not counting the way you look yet. So what about those people who do not fall into this proportion, for example, girls who are way shorter than their guys or the other way around? Then it comes to more primal instincts. These instincts kick in when the height proportion thing is not correct and thus there is still a chance you might have redeeming qualities to save your sorry soul.
We all know that girls, stereotypical girls anyway, hold family in higher regard than anything else. Examining this, a girl needs to know that her family can be taken care of without worry. The most tangible quality of this is wealth. If a man has enough money to care for her and her family, and perhaps a little extra, that’s a good quality.
Most of us also know that girls are curious, active creatures that require attention and care. Unless you’re a complete jerk, you should have some quality that can keep her interested for a couple of hours. That’s good as well. Also, in addition to money, because it really isn’t everything, displaying “fatherly” qualities would also get you pretty far, with her knowing that she can trust you to nurture her children properly. These are the “primal” instincts a female has when looking for a male.
What about men then? What basic need would they have that could possibly overlook the very laws of nature and the world around them? A good body, if you get what I mean. There enough said, that’s all they’d look for. Shallow isn’t it? That’s life.
Archives October 2008November 2008 a dream for Claire : [2008] is a music/sound project started mid-year. I won't play instruments nor will I record songs. What I do is to work on, improve or to just draft out beats that make your feet tap and your heart sing. (This blog as nothing to do with the project, I just have no other name for it.)
This blog's theme and overall feel is based on the song "Unknown Soldier" by Breaking Benjamin, especially the chorus line, "Show me what its like, to dream in black and white." I like that line cause of its simplicity. "Dream in black and white", not something everyone can do. It is to make everything that is complex seem so simple and easy to understand. And that's what I learn from Claire, to dream in black and white.
